ReelKitchen started the way most good things do — out of a stubborn refusal to settle for what was out there.
What this place is
ReelKitchen is a small, independent site built around one idea: genuinely useful content, written in a human voice, with real examples and no fluff.
What you will find here:
- Honest writing — if something is hard or annoying, we'll say so
- Real examples — everything we publish has been tested or used in practice
- Long-term value — articles are updated over time, not abandoned after publication
Who's behind it
Hi — I'm Sarah Whitman. I trained as a pastry chef, spent a few years in restaurant kitchens, and eventually realized I missed cooking the kind of food I actually wanted to eat at home. ReelKitchen is where I share what I've learned, and where I keep figuring it out.
I write everything you read here. I cook every recipe at least three times before it makes the cut. I take most of the photos. The work is slower than churning out content with a cookbook robot — but I think you can taste the difference.
How we work
ReelKitchen is reader-supported. That means we make money through a few honest channels:
- Affiliate links — when you buy a recommended product through one of our links, we earn a small commission. We only link to things we actually use. See our full affiliate disclosure.
- Newsletter — free, no spam, just what we think is worth your attention.
What we don't do: pop-up ads, autoplay videos, paywalls, or interrupt your scroll with anything we wouldn't tolerate ourselves.
What's next
We're building this slowly and on purpose. New content goes up most weeks.
If you want to follow along, the newsletter is the best way. If you want to say hi or send feedback, the contact page is right there.
Thanks for being here.
— Sarah
